Fearless

Last night at my meeting we discussed fear and becoming fearless.  Several things were discussed.

What are we all afraid of?  We are afraid of how we are going to feel.  How we will feel if we loose our job. How we will feel if our relationship ends.  How we will feel if we or someone we love is ill.  How we will feel if someone we care about gets angry with us.  And on and on.

Did you know that all fear is created in our own heads?  No matter what is going on in our world (loss of job, relationship, etc.) the fear doesn't just happen.  We feel afraid because of our beliefs, not because of the scenerio that is happening.

What do you believe would happen if you got ill and weren't afraid?  Does fear facilitate healing?  I don't believe it does.

Fear is a choice and one of the ways we discussed to live with less fear, is to accept whatever happens as it is, be present to ourselves and the situation, and then we will have more interior resources to change the situation.

Being present can help the fear to fall away on its own.

Di-stress to De-stress

I was talking to a mother who said it was hard for her to think about her sixteen year old daughter  graduating and going to college next year.  She so loves her daughter and cherishes the moments they have together.

We all have feelings about all of the things that are happening in our lives.  Instead of trying to push away, our thoughts and feelings about changes in our lives, we can enjoy the tug of deep love in our hearts, we can embrace it.  Pushing our feelings away, makes them more bitter than sweet, but embracing these feelings makes them more sweet than bitter.

We all have feelings all day long.  When we accept and embrace them, instead of trying to push them into the background (which causes stress) we are open and clear and emotionally available for whatever comes next.

There are those of us who have had to feel our di-stress in order to de-stress, so we could heal and thrive in life.  And I believe everyone benefits by allowing and feeling their present moment feelings.

When we live in the moment, we welcome all of our feelings and it is a very joyful way to live!
